From
Kokoro #011 - Petals of PowerI suppose I'm not alone in having a project that's nagged me for years. In my case, it's the photographs I've made of the Dakota Creek Shipyard across the street from our LensWork office. This is a close-up of a massive propeller for a tug boat. It just
glowed in the evening sun.
I now have some 18,000 photographs from inside the shipyard thanks to their courteous and gracious permission to photograph there at will.
This is unquestionably the most substantial body of work I've photographed in my life. Strangely however, precious few images have ever been published or shown — and I'm not sure why. I love the work, but it's just such a
huge project I'm having a hard time figuring out how to complete it. In the meantime, perhaps more smaller completions, like this one in
Kokoro, will will allow me to build some momentum.
