Hundreds of giant sheets of steel arrive in the shipyard and then are welded together, piece by piece. After months, it starts to look like a ship. It is truly magic. Asked what the tolerance of matching parts is, one of the guys replied "One thirty-second of an inch."
I have no idea if he was kidding, but I'd believe it if he wasn't.
