Fatigue had set in. We'd been up since before dawn, photographing and wandering around this strange place. I sat down in the dirt for a short rest and a snack. As I sat there, the arc of the sun brought light onto this single mound of bentonite, right before my eyes. Five minutes after I finished this picture, the light was gone and all was in shadow again.
