I had set up my tripod and composed this image. Now all I needed was the perfect wave. After a dozen exposures, I starting questioning the entire idea of
a perfect wave. After a few more exposures, I packed up with the assumption that I had nothing.
But then, I looked at the contact sheet in Lightroom (see link below) and realized, by happy accident, I had something
in time, about time — something I had not intended nor anticipated at all while I was photographing. I suppose another testament to the idea that the
artmaking takes place back home rather than in the field, back home when we have time to think, experiment, let things stew and simmer.
