Kokoro #031 - Home BaseThis is a blended image that originated from two 6x9cm film exposures I made in 1989. (See originals using the link below.) I knew the image I wanted while I was photographing it, but didn't have the photographic skills to created it. How does one create an image that has
both moving and still elements in the same exposure? I suppose a double exposure technique might work, but I'd never done that and didn't have a clue how to proceed — at least not in 1989 when I made this image.
My only ideas at the time involved a time exposure with flash, but that wasn't possible in the middle of a summer day. So, I made the two exposures — one with the merry-go-round still, and one with it moving. These negatives have waited in storage for 26 years for me to use the now-easy blending capabilites in the digital darkroom.
It's not an exaggeration to say that this image took me 26 years to complete. So much for the myth about photography being an "instant" art medium.
