From Kokoro #081 - Lost at Sea

Minor White famously advised, "Don't just photograph what is; photograph what else it is." I always interpret his advice as encouragement to look for metaphors and deeper meanings.

This project was made photographing the slate that forms the walls outside the China Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing. To my eye, they looked like giant waves on a stormy sea.
