From Kokoro #032 - October Seas

This location near Hug Point State Park in Oregon has taught me such a valuable lesson about photography and the creative process. I've been back to this spot no less than a dozen times and every single time it is different — not a subtle difference, but sometimes radically different.

The first time I was here, there was no sand — none! It was all rocks and I could walk quite a way back into the cave. The next time, it was all sand and the cave was completely inaccessible. This visit, I found a skiff of dry sand that had been blown into this swirl that I'd never seen before. Every visit is different.

As a photographer, it can be so easy for us to think, "Oh, I've been there," and drive right on by. Hug Point has taught the depths of that mistake. I can't wait to get back there again.
