Kokoro - Wandering Through a Photographic Life

Backstage Kokoro

A "behind-the-scenes" look at selected images in my Kokoro project —
Content, photographic notes, EXIF data, creative process, miscellaneous commentary, and original digital captures. And now with additional audio comments about selected images!

From Kokoro #043 - Factory Butte

I love photographic surprises. This image, in its original digital capture (see link below) is a light, somewhat pastel scene on a hazy, rainy day in summer — July 4, 2013. Unexpectedly, when I converted it to a black-and-white image, the light tones in the sand suddenly look like a skiff of snow! The hazy sky even looks like it's snowing. I love it! Photographing in snowy Utah without having to chain up the car! And in my shirt sleeves. I don't care one wit that it's a visual illusion; the feel of the image is what counts.

And is it just me, or do those standing rocks look like some sort of totem or pillar, placed there on purpose as guardians or some sort of worship symbol? Probably just me, but if they weren't there, I'd want to place them there if I could.
